Mental Health Awareness Day

After attending a mental health awareness day at Grassroots in Cardiff, I realised I’m not the only one campaigning for better services. So many people are aware of this issue and are making an effort to change the system. I was able to share ‘All My Strength’ with various people and organisations who wanted to support my cause and I was able to make links with other people fighting for youth mental health awareness. Cardiff Youth Council are particularly involved in improving the way our services are run and have helped to promote my campaign through social media. There are so many opportunities to have a say in how services such as CAMHS are run. But is anyone listening?  Despite the campaigning, people are still being failed by health professionals. The young people affected are raising their concerns but the funding for mental health services is forecast to drop by 8% in the coming years under the current government. Mental illness is an issue that affects a huge number of young people. Why are we still being ignored? If you are being failed by mental health services you don’t have to suffer in silence. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
